Who Should Get It:

The rabies vaccine protects against the rabies virus, a deadly disease transmitted through the bite or scratch of infected animals. It’s recommended for:

  • People exposed to a potentially rabid animal (post-exposure protection)

  • Travelers to high-risk countries or areas with limited access to medical care

  • Veterinarians, animal handlers, and wildlife workers

  • Individuals with frequent exposure to animals (e.g., pet rescuers or zookeepers)

Before the Injection:

  • Let your provider know if you're pregnant, have a weakened immune system, or had an allergic reaction to a previous dose.

  • No fasting or special preparation is required.

After the Injection:

Mild side effects may include:
